Morgan, Brown & Joy Attorney Catherine Scott Elected President of Massachusetts Chapter of the Federal Bar Association
Catherine (Cat) Scott, an attorney at Boston labor and employment law firm Morgan, Brown & Joy, has been elected President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) for the 2024-2025 year, effective October 1, 2024. Scott has been an active member of the board since October 2019 when she began as the Chair of the Young Lawyers Division.
Scott is a litigator and labor and employment lawyer defending and advising employers. She helps companies navigate workplace allegations such as employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, Family and Medical Leave Act, breach of contract, and wage and hour class actions, among others. In addition to appearing in federal and state courts, Scott appears before government agencies including the EEOC, MCAD, Department of Labor, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and other state anti-discrimination agencies. In her labor law practice, Scott’s experience includes representing companies in both representation and unfair labor practices proceedings at the National Labor Relations Board and Massachusetts Department of Labor Relations. She also represents employers in collective bargaining efforts. Scott has particular interest and experience in appellate work surrounding labor and employment matters.
Founded in 1920, the FBA is dedicated to the advancement of the science of jurisprudence and to promoting the welfare, interests, education, and professional development of all attorneys involved in federal law. Members run the gamut of federal practice: attorneys practicing in small to large legal firms, attorneys in corporations and federal agencies, and members of the judiciary. The FBA is the catalyst for communication between the bar and the bench, as well as the private and public sectors.
The Massachusetts Chapter of the FBA is responsible for programming in the state, including the popular Breakfasts with the Bench with federal judges and the annual Judicial Reception honoring a federal judge. The chapter currently has over 200 members.
