Morgan, Brown & Joy Adds Michael Downey as an Associate
Boston labor and employment law firm Morgan, Brown & Joy announces that Michael Downey has joined the firm as an associate. Downey brings extensive experience handling highly visible, complex labor issues and will focus on advising employers on labor and employment matters.
Downey’s practice spans collective bargaining, contract negotiations, accommodations, employee discipline, litigation and a range of general personnel matters. He also works as an investigator for complaints of harassment, discrimination and conflict in the workplace.
As a litigator, Downey has experience representing clients before labor arbitrators, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Massachusetts Civil Service Commission, the Department of Labor Relations, and in state and federal courts. His experience includes handling matters related to the Family Medical Leave Act, the American with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Massachusetts Wage Act, and state and federal discrimination laws.
Prior to joining the firm, Downey served as Deputy Labor Counsel in the Executive Office at the Massachusetts Trial Court, and served as Associate Town Counsel for the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts. His background also includes working as lead counsel on behalf of the Human Resources Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Downey received his J.D. from Roger Williams School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Rhode Island.
