Laurence J. Donoghue
Larry Donoghue started with Morgan, Brown & Joy in 1984 and became a partner in 1988. His practice encompasses the full range of labor and employment law services provided by the firm. In the labor area he represents both public and private sector clients in union organizing situations, contract negotiations, grievance administration and arbitration, and in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission, and State and Federal courts. In the area of employment law on behalf of employers he defends a variety of workplace claims, including claims of discrimination, wage and hour claims, wrongful discharge claims, etc. before courts and administrative agencies. He also has represented employers in matters relating to non-competition agreements and alleged disclosure of confidential information.
Larry also devotes much of his practice to advising and assisting clients in day-to-day labor and employment matters. This includes providing telephone advice and written opinions, reviewing handbooks and other personnel documents, as well as training. Larry is certified to conduct training on harassment prevention and conducting workplace investigations.
Larry has been named a "Super Lawyer" in the field of Labor and Employment Law by Boston Magazine and was named among the nation's most respected lawyers in recent editions of The Best Lawyers In America.
Larry is a magna cum laude graduate of both Boston College Law School (where he was an editor of the Law Review) and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Before joining Morgan, Brown & Joy he was clerk to a Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Since 2003, Larry has authored the Massachusetts Employment Law Sourcebook published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc.
