Overview

Alex represents employers in labor and employment matters in state and federal court, in private arbitration, and before administrative agencies, including the EEOC, the NLRB, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Office of the Attorney General, the Department of Labor, and California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing and office of the Labor Commissioner and other state agencies.  Alex also provides her clients with daily employment counsel and advice, and guides employer management teams in the preparation of employee handbooks, policies, personnel decisions and hiring practices, through employee separations, workplace investigations, and administration of employee leaves, and with respect to compliance with other state and federal employment statutes. Alex is a certified trainer, and regularly conducts anti-harassment and other employment trainings at client workplaces. 

Alex is also an experienced litigator, and has successfully defended clients in a variety of industries, including higher and secondary school education, insurance, retail and hospitality, healthcare, and public entities, with respect to allegations of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour violations, breach of contract, wrongful termination and other employment-related torts. Alex has successfully obtained summary judgment on behalf of her clients in numerous cases, including recent matters alleging breach of contract and other equitable claims, claims for unpaid commissions, and allegations of wrongful termination and discrimination and retaliation.   

Alex has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by New England Super Lawyers in the field of labor and employment law multiple times. Alex is a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School, where she completed an externship for a Justice on the California Court of Appeal. Prior to joining Morgan, Brown & Joy, Alex worked in the legal department of a technological corporation and was an associate attorney in the San Francisco office of a mid-size, West Coast firm, where her practice focused exclusively on management-side employment litigation and counseling.
